Blackberry Playbook Review

Design and Display Review
BlackBerry PlayBook weigh about 0.9 pounds, and unlike iPad 2 the BlackBerry Tablet is using 7 inch screen. It is obvious that RIM emphasizes on portability. The tablet has volume control, play and also power button at the top side. It also have a bright and vivid screen with a nice contrast. It might not be as good as the Super AMOLED plus screen; but it still delivers great visual.

CPU Review
To keep the BlackBerry PlayBook running smoothly, RIM has decided to use a 1GHz Dual Core TI OMAP processor; and it is supported with 1GB of RAM. Needless to say, the RIM BlackBerry Tablet is a fast device. There are BlackBerry PlayBook 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB.

Office Usability
BlackBerry PlayBook market target is set at business man, therefore the tablet should have a reliable virtual keyboard. There's also copy and paste shortcuts available. We often get Adobe PDF files in our business, and with this gadget you can read them since RIM is cooperating with Adobe. Beside that, there's also Adobe Flash for enjoying flash games available online.

Connectivity Review
BlackBerry PlayBook connectivity is one of a kind. There's not many internet tablet that are offering 4G network these days (or at least there's only a few of them at the moment).

Camera Review
Many other tablets are using 3 megapixel camera on the back, and standard 1.2 to 2 megapixel camera for video chat. However, the tablet uses a 5 megapixel camera on the back and 3 megapixel video chat camera. One more thing, unlike the big and wide 10 inch tablet; the 7 inch tablet's camera can be used easily, and it can also produce great images and video. You can share the images or video to your family thanks to micro-HDMI and micro-USB ports.

OS review
BlackBerry PlayBook runs on BlackBerry Tablet OS and is supported with 1GB of RAM and 1GHz dual core processor. This new OS was developed by QNX, a famous company for their reliable softwares. The BlackBerry Tablet OS will allow you to have faster multimedia and video files handling, great graphics quality, and no lag whatsoever.

Of course, there are also built in support for email and the famous BlackBerry Enterprise Server. After using the PlayBook and its BlackBerry Tablet OS, it is clear that RIM is making an all round tablet that is powerful for business market and also fun for the common market. To end this BlackBerry PlayBook review, we once again said that the BlackBerry PlayBook is a solid device, and although the screen size might be a problem for some people, we have nothing to complain about

The Blackberry Apps

In doing so, BlackBerry devices have developed their own application store that provides a multitude of applications for users. More specifically, an application is a program that can do an assortment of options like give directions, play music, play games, provide updates in the news, weather and finance world, as well as many other useful features. In order to operate these applications on a BlackBerry, the application must be downloaded from the application store provided by BlackBerry App World.

BlackBerry App World is an application distribution service that runs exclusively on BlackBerry devices. App World was developed by Research In Motion (RIM) and is available for most of the BlackBerry devices currently available. With this service, users are provided an interface to browse, download, and update third-party applications for their mobile devices and smartphones. Although the service has only been available for BlackBerry's since April 1, 2009, it has gained significant popularity among Blackberry users as it mimics the app store available for the iPhone.

Applications for the BlackBerry can be free or paid for by the user. Besides finding applications on BlackBerry App World, often times free applications for the BlackBerry can be found all over the internet. There are also super sites that have a collection of free BlackBerry applications that can be directly downloaded. In terms of paid applications, these applications are also typically available on the same types of websites. Many times the free versions of the applications are a primitive version of the paid version. The price of applications can vary depending on the function. In terms of directional applications, these are often more expensive than most applications available and can be in the price range of up to $50.00. Although these applications may seem expensive, they are often worth the price and are always readily available to the user.

There are many popular applications available for the BlackBerry. In terms of a popular free application is UberTwitter. This free application is designed for those who are active users of the social networking site Twitter. This application allows for on-the-go Twitter updates from the mobile device. It also allows the user to post photos and videos taken on the device, as well as many other extended options not typically available for Twitter.

For those who are looking for more advanced applications, the paid applications available on BlackBerry App World provide a number of services. One of the most popular paid apps is the miPhone 3G application that adds a vibrant theme to the home screen of the BlackBerry device. The BlackBerry App World is a revolution in application design and release that allows a BlackBerry user to search and find relevant applications that help customize their device even further. By downloading new applications for the BlackBerry device, the user can now have access to more information at any time, while also being able to play games while traveling. The application is a revolution in the mobile device that will forever change the way individuals communicate.

Top 4 Most Anticipated Tablets Coming Out This Spring

iPad 2
As everyone knows Apple's iPad was a monster hit last year selling over 14.7 million units to date. As with any other Apple product the new version is fraught with rumors and speculation about features and price. Icons seen in the latest SDK show the iPad 2 will have the widely rumored front and back facing cameras. More exciting are possible inclusion of a higher powered dual core A4 based processor and a super high resolution "Retina Display" like the iPhone 4. It is hard to know whether the iPad 2 will have a Retina Display or just a slightly higher PPI as current generation GPUs will have a hard time pushing so many pixels. Prices based on a leaked Best Buy database entry will start at $600 to $700.

HP Topaz
HP bought out Palm for 1.2 billion last year one would speculate for the highly touted Web OS used in their mobile phone systems. The specs got leaked this week and the specs seem very similar to the current iPad; 1.2ghz processor, 9.7-inch XGA 1024 x 768 screen, wifi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 700 gram weight, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB are similar. The Topaz will have similar 3G cell phone technology to the current iPad. HP beats Apple's offering with a front facing camera, double the dram but loses out with 8 hours of battery life vs the iPad's 10. The release date will be announced on February 9th but the consensus is for a spring release.

BlackBerry Playbook
BlackBerry is taking quite a beating in the Smartphone space with Apples iPhone and Android phones out innovating BlackBerry and gaining tremendous momentum at the cost of BlackBerry. The BlackBerry Playbook tablet is BlackBerry's attempt to start taking up the slack. The Playbook features a smaller form factor than the other tablets here with only a 7" screen at 1024x600.

Motorola Xoom
First shown at CES 2011, the Motorola Xoom stood out among a slew of "me too" Android tablets. Trotting out the soon to be released Honeycomb, an Android released customized for tablets, the Xoom was the most elegant and refined of the Android tablets. Featuring the first instance of a dula core cpu in a tablet a 10.1 inch display and Flash support the Xoom offers the first serious Android contender to the iPad champ. With a planned release for February 17th, it will be the first Honeycomb tablet on the market. Verizon leaked prices show the Xoom going for $800 with 4G and $700 for the wifi version. Look for 1280 x 800 resolution, 5 megapixel camera, 720p video recording and 1080p video playback, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and finally, a healthy 32GB of onboard storage.

Experience the Blackberry Torch

The Blackberry Bold Slider (9800) will be the first blackberry slider to hit the market, making it one of the most sought after cellular devices of 2010.

Advanced devices with a slide out keyboard are nothing new to the cell phone market, as companies like HTC, Palm, Nokia, and the like have both successfully and unsuccessfully released their fair share. However, Research In Motion had never released a Blackberry with a slide out keyboard. The Blackberry Bold Slider (9800) has been announced and will feature a slide out keyboard, which is something that Blackberry aficionados have been demanding for quite some time. The move by Research In Motion to release the Blackberry Bold Slider continues to demonstrate the company's uncanny ability to market a business-oriented product to the average consumer. It is this uncanny ability that has enabled Research In Motion to rise to the top among other cellular manufacturers.

The Blackberry Bold Slider is an absolutely incredible device. It features a portrait-oriented keyboard, making it very similar to the Palm Pre. The slide out keyboard is, of course, be full QWERTY. The Bold Slider runs Blackberry OS 6.0, offering, without a doubt, the best that Blackberry and Research In Motion have to offer. The screen has a 360x480 resolution, which makes it in line with its predecessors. Many would have liked a higher resolution screen, but OS 6.0, and the Slider keyboard make up for it.

Much to the liking of many, the Blackberry Bold Slider does support Wi-Fi 802.11n, which makes it possible to still have access to high speed Internet in low service areas with Wi-Fi. The Bold Slider is a GSM/HSPA device. Expect CDMA service providers to get their own variation in the latter half of 2010.
As for the physical appearance of the Blackberry Bold Slider, it is a bit thicker than the Blackberry Curve 8900.

However, that should be expected, considering it packs both a touch screen and a slide out keyboard. If you are a Blackberry owner, or have been eyeing your first Blackberry, then you should definitely consider the Blackberry Bold Slider. With its combination of a touch screen, and a slide out keyboard, it truly has something for everybody, making it a flagship device for Research In Motion and any cell phone service provider that is lucky enough to offer this device to its customers.

Blackberry History

When the BlackBerry first made its appearances, it was thought as the latest and greatest in phone history, giving busy executives the ability to have a 'smart' phone at their use.

No wonder so many call the BlackBerry the CrackBerry as they are addicted to their phone.
BlackBerry gained its greatest popularity due to not only being a phone but also a phone/PDA. Its popularity grew due to its ability to send and receive push Internet e-mail as well as its large array of messaging features. Features included auto-text, auto-correct, text prediction, language support, keyboard shortcuts, text emoticons, push email, push Facebook and Myspace notifications, push Ebay notifications, push instant messaging and more.

Yes, the BlackBerry started out as a simple mobile pager. The next series of systems was the BlackBerry 857/957. The phone looked like a PDA, the display was increased in size from 6-8 lines to 16 or 20. More memory was added and the phone had the ability to sync up to 10 personal and business emails.

RIM, the company who owns BlackBerry, was at the time catering to the GSM market and industry. But demand was increasing for CDMA versions so in late 2003, RIM released the BlackBerry 6750 for Verizon Wireless. The phone itself wasn't much different than GSM 6000 models. The biggest change was that Verizon was the nation's No. 1 wireless provider; therefore designing a phone for their systems gave BlackBerry a huge boost in notoriety and sales.

RIM continued to create CDMA versions of their phone with the 7200 and 7250 series. To maintain a presence for both AT&T (which was GSM compatible) and Sprint/Verizon - CDMA compatible, RIM continued making phones for both systems. The 7210, 7220, 7230, 7280 and 7290 were created for GSM while the 7250 was the only CDMA-compatible phone. BlackBerry stepped up their notoriety again with the design of the full QWERTY keyboard. While some people found the keyboard to be bulky (remember, cell phones were growing smaller and smaller in size at this point), those who wanted the ability to type quickly on their device appreciated it. Trying to reduce the size, RIM released the SureType keyboard, which assigned two letters to each key. This helped reduce the device size a bit. SureType took off in 2006 with the release of the BlackBerry Pearl. One could operate the device with one hand. Pearl was originally released for GSM networks but in 2007 was released for CDMA networks as well.

Then came the 8000 series. More smartphones were hitting the market by the time the 8000 series came out, making competition high. This series contained many consumer-friendly features but was missing the popular camera. RIM intentionally created their 8000 series without cameras so they could be used by professionals in places like courtrooms.

All About Blackberry Bold 9000

Originally released only to AT&T subscribers, the BlackBerry Bold 9000 took many users by storm. While the primary complaint was lack of network coverage, AT&T has been working to improve coverage since around the time the Bold 9000 was released. Some users have expressed noticeably greater signal strength in areas previously known to be "dead zones".

The Bold 9000 has many features working in its favor. For instance, the faux leather case created a nearly scratch-proof phone, helping it to keep that brand new look for users who took at least decent care of the device. With a full-QWERTY keyboard, the phone provided a business-friendly and consumer-friendly option, making texting and emailing a breeze.

The phone is not all perfect, however. Some users enjoy the large size due to the ease of use for texting and typing, while others would prefer to have a smaller phone to carry in their pocket during the day. Additionally, the mute button on the top of the device is extremely prone to breaking and with newer BlackBerry OS versions, this is a major pain as the mute button is also the unlock button.

On top of that, some of the design elements are plastic, making them crack or break more easily. With proper care, the phone will last a couple of years without much problem, but with how often devices are used, a single drop could cause the plastic to break and/or the cheap paint to start chipping and peeling.
A major complaint most smartphone users had was the lack of WiFi on their device. The availability of WiFi was a major selling point alone, and this alone caused some smartphone users to switch to AT&T simply to use the Bold 9000.

With the release of the iPhone, BlackBerry has almost taken a backseat in the smartphone market, but with the release of a flip, slider, and touchscreen phone, BlackBerry does not plan to walk away anytime soon.
